
Dr Wise is a consultant for a busy inner city area, responsible for the assessment of over 300 new referrals a year and providing long term care for over 100 patients with severe and enduring mental illnesses. In his private practice Dr Wise sees over 150 new patients a year and coordinates the care of a further 150 patients. With a Masters in Anthropology and trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy he is well versed to assist with the varied issues that present in the acutely unwell, or with medically unexplained symptoms. His expertise covers Depression, Anxiety and Post-Trauma states, and Capacity; most commonly applied to discrimination cases, personal injury, coronial enquiries, and capacity issues
Dr Wise is Chair of the British Medical Associations Medico-Legal Committee, sits on its Medical Ethics and Psychiatric Committees, and regularly liaises with the Ministries of Health & Justice. He has authored guidelines on expert witness practice, and acted for the Healthcare Commission and NHS Ombudsman. Having sat on many national committees, including the NICE guideline development group for Anxiety Disorders and the National Implementation Group for the Mental Health Act 2007 he is well versed with policy and practice issues.He is happy to discuss cases by telephone before instructions are considered
